Anton's Syndrome: When You're Blind But Your Brain Thinks You Can See

(Video credit: Psyched!/Youtube)

Anton's syndrome, or the Anton-Babinski syndrome, is a condition in which a person who is cortically blind is unaware or completely denies that they are blind. So, they make up experiences to compensate for their loss of vision.

Cortical blindness occurs when the visual impairment is not caused by damage to the eye, but rather to the brain's occipital or visual cortex, which is the part of the brain that processes visual information.

However, the person can still respond to light since the reflex is not connected to the visual cortex. Here's another video showing someone who has Anton's syndrome and denies that they cannot see:

Anton Syndrome - Very rare condition where someone is cortically blind but is unaware of it or straight up denies they are blind!
