When you're the captain of a sinking ship, the responsible and ethical thing to do is to ensure that all passengers and crew have safely evacuated before leaving the ship. However, Francesco Schettino was not such a captain. Apart from causing the whole incident that led to the sinking of Costa Concordia, he literally jumped ship before any of the passengers.
