Snoop Dogg Reveals How Much Spotify Pays If You Hit a Billion Streams

For aspiring artists and musicians, many platforms now exist for them to release their music into the world and get discovered. It would be great if they can get hired by a recording studio, after finding popularity from platforms like Youtube or Spotify. But the dream may just be earning a fortune from people watching their Youtube videos or listening to their songs on Spotify.

Now, we get a bit of a glimpse into how much artists and musicians actually get if they were to hit a billion streams on Spotify.

Snoop Dogg has revealed on an interview with Business Untitled, that, for hitting 1 billion streams, he received less than $45,000. That's about $0.000045 per stream.

According to data, on average, Spotify pays artists around $0.0035 per stream. So, $45,000 for a billion streams is a massive swindle. If we were to use the right calculations, Snoop should have gotten at least $3 million.

Of course, there's also the consideration of studios getting cuts in the profits, but still $45,000 is way too far from the actual figure. -via Reddit
