Scientists have been studying communication among different animal species for decades, but a team of researchers may have finally been able to have the first conversation between whales and humans.
In another study, scientists believe they have decoded whale language, which used clicks and frequencies, analogous to how we use vowels and diphthongs.
But scientists with the SETI Institute have been able to record a conversation they had with a humpback whale named Twain, by using an underwater speaker which played a humpback call. It may not exactly be humans talking to the whale but this could be the beginning of establishing deeper relations between humans and whales. -via Boing Boing
